Knitted Cuff Anyone?

This was originally suppose to be my next scarf project so I could attempt a "braided" look using cables... until I got bored with the scarf idea... Next thing I know, it's laying across my wrist & my brain screams: "what a cool bangle/bracelete/cuff?"

AND its really warm!  I normally have ice-cold fingertips ALL winter--but not this time!  Soon after finishing it and trying it on, I could feel the heat return to my fingertips :)  A new twist on the wrist warmer?!

Pattern Testing

Yesterday I decided to try a new technique I saw on KnitandCrochetToday (on PBS Create) to change colors in a pattern.  Well, I don't have my own pattern so I decided to try making a simple design on my own:  A red stocking on a white background.  Easy, right?  Eh...

This is 10 rows in & 45 minutes after starting... only half done.  I'll definitely be using this to block a better pattern from it later.  If I ever get up the courage to try it again, haha.

The finished stocking cloth!:

It resembles a crunched "J" rather than a stocking.  The technique is cool, but I don't think I'll be listing lots of this design for a while.  At least not this year.  Maybe I can perfect the pattern for next year.

**Don't forget about the giveway I'm hosting until Tonight, 12:00am EST! **
All you have to do is post a comment on the post, Giveaway, as your entry.  You can increase your chances to win by posting about my giveaway on your blog or on Facebook and leaving your link in another comment.  Good luck!

So... I've been thinking about the sale that I had mentioned I wanted to have this week.  However, since I don't have many items listed in the shop and only a handful more to list tonight/tomorrow, I was thinking maybe a giveaway would be a better option for this week and then have a sale closer to Christmas.

The item up for grabs:  The red scarf I wrote about here.

*To enter, write a comment to this post about your favorite item I have listed in my shop, or an item that I have written about in this blog, or something you would like to see me make and why (colors? pattern? etc).

*For a second entry, post about my giveaway in your blog (feel free to use any and all pictures related to this scarf or my blog in your post).  Then come back and tell me that you linked to my blog/giveaway with the link to your post in your second comment.  You can link to this giveaway via any blog or Facebook.

The giveaway starts NOW! and closes at midnight (12:00am) EST Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The winner will be chosen at random by drawing one name out of a hat.  Please be sure to include a way to contact you (email or blog) in your comment.  I will contact the winner early Wednesday morning and announce them in a post after they have accepted.

Good luck & I can't wait to hear all your feedback!

This week is going by fast.  I have a few new projects started, one more finished and 2 that I'm lagging on (namely, the purple scarf and the coordinating purple hat to go along with it).  But with a family weekend coming up (lots of socializing = good time to knit mindlessly) and more family time coming up with the holiday, I think I can crank them out in time to give them to their new home before December comes :)

The new project:

It's going to be a throw pillow!  covered in buttons!  I hope to have this in the shop by December.

The finished project (finally... I've had the design in my head for years, finished the scarf over a year ago and just never got around to lacing it):

The Corset Scarf.  Find it in the shop soon!

Amber Waves

My newest project from this weekend ^.  It hit me Friday night and then I spent all day Saturday (while housesitting) to rip out and perfect the new cable pattern that I used in this scarf.  I just casted it off tonight. :-D  And I love it! (a finished picture coming soon) How 'bout you?

Some Fun Colors

These are some of my favorite colors.  I think using these colors in dishcloth form really warms up the kitchen and adds a little sunshine. :)
Can you tell I like super-macro shots?  I think they are beautifully artistic, but also fun because it's like feeling the texture of an item with your eyes.

Here is a little peak at some other items I can't wait to list (maybe at the end of next week?):

I will be offline for most of the weekend but look for more updates on Monday!  (and don't let that deter you from leaving comments, hehe)

What do You Think?

No new photos today, unfortunately.  I was hoping to list a few more items in the shop today but was called into work last minute and I still have a full day ahead of me.  So hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning (which is scheduled to be another Etsy morning).  Be sure to check back soon!

Question - should I do a sale (like a 3-day 20% off anything in the shop thus far), or should I do a giveaway (and if so, what should I give away?)  I look forward to your input! :)

It's Red

And I love this red color.  What do you think of it as a scarf?

Some detail of the cabling...

That's what I'm working on this week.

A Sneak Peek

at Tessie's *hat* . . .

A friend of mine who saw that I was starting a shop on etsy requested a few items even though my shop isn't open (yet).  The items should be in the mail later this week but I thought I'd post a little preview of one of them for her now.

Can anyone guess what it is?

Last Week

Here are the pictures to the mitten-hat-&-scarf set for the little boy from Brazil.  Please ignore the different lighting between pictures.  I was working at different times but I promise they are matching blues as I used the same skein for all pieces.

... the mittens ...

... and the hat, well, I didn't get a picture of that one, yet.  Maybe I can get a picture of him wearing all three things at once another time.

"My" Photographer

Erianna. She takes wonderful pictures (see below). Remember that scarf photo shoot I mentioned? She took them. :) Here's a sample:

And then I took her camera to shoot hats for the shop. Here's one:
